Tamuka Gorerino
He did his primary schooling at Zengeza number 7 Primary School in Chitungwiza, where they have a family home. In 1992 he moved to Guruve and did his secondary schooling up to 1995. After completing his secondary education, he was inspired to become sculptor, although he had well at school. Seeing his interests in stones, his mother Virginia, introduced him to her sister's husband Edronce Rukoko. He worked with Rukoko for three years at his workshop in Seke, Chitungwiza. Tamuka progressed and joined his brother Tapiwa who worked at their home in Guruve and in 1998 he joined the Tengenenge Art Community. He says that his sculptures are mostly centered on female figures because his mother is the one who introduced him to the world of wisdom through storytelling and wise sayings that will make him not forget his cultural beliefs and values. According to Tamuka, mothers are the pillars of our societies. |
