Philip Mulima
He was exposed to art from the outset as he assisted his uncle, well-known sculptor Gerald Takawira. Gerald taught his nephew the techniques and traditions of Shona Sculpture. The Takawiras have a grand reputation in the world of African Art and Philip carries on with the family tradition. His work is influenced by tradition and beliefs. Philip also sculpts objects around him such as birds, people and emotions. He takes great pride in his work and puts a lot of effort and time to ensure that each piece captures the message that he is conveying. He is married with five children - three boys and two girls. |
