Noel Mwanza

Noel Mwanza was born in Harare in 1964 and is the brother of Jim Mwanza who works with him.

He became interested in all aspects of art at an early age, as do most of those who go on to become full time artists.

In 1992, established carver, Ernest Chiwaridzo apprenticed him for a number of years until Noel had gained the confidence to start out on his own.

Living in the township of Highfield, on the outskirts of Harare, he carves in many stones but Fruit Serpentine remains his favourite.

He believes art should flow from the heart but gains inspiration from watching people interact with each other.

His work has been sold in Holland, Germany, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
