Morgan Sangare

African Art Shona Sculpture - Morgan SangareMorgan Sangare was born to a poor rural family of six children, two of who have since passed away.

At a young age, Morgan showed a keen interest and natural skill with sculpting in clay but, when his family moved to Chitungwiza, he was exposed to works from top sculptors such as Tonderai Marezva and Moses Masaya.

The inspiration and drive to become an artist was too strong for him to consider being anything else after he left school and he has never regretted the decision.

Morgan sculpts primarily abstract from the hard Springstone.

A very likable personality, Morgan married Knowledge Mujakachi in 1996, and they have one son, Arthur, who was born in 1997.

Being tall for Shona, its no wonder his favourite sport is basketball and he loves to fish.
