Joel Nhete

Joel was born In Zimbabwe 21^st June 1971 into a family of five boys.

In inspiration for sculpting came while he was at still at school, from the Kenyemba sculpting family.

Being naturally gifted at art, the transition to working in stone came after believing that this art form was being lost to the “tourist artists”.

Joel has always been interested in figurative and abstract art and has never tried his hand at realistic art such as busts or animals.

With his brother Jonathan, he is a full time artist and relies on his work to provide the income into  the household of his small family.

Joel has had his art shown in many local exhibitions, some of which include:

• The National Gallery of Zimbabwe

• Chapungu Gallery

• Sheds of Africa
