Isaac Takavada
Leaving school in 1990 with a GCE O level, he later obtained a diploma in bookkeeping at the Pitman Institute in Harare. He started his learning of art in his spare time from 1987 under the guidance of his brother Percy Mukeda, and later at the Chapungu Gallery where he worked for five years. He is married to Cynthia Sithole who performs all the polishing of Isaacs sculptures, which are mostly carved from fruit serpentine, a hard a durable stone that has a high gloss once polished. His interests are playing traditional musical instruments and loves to listen to the music of Big Chimurenga Crew, a prominent traditional Shona musician. Isaac and Cynthia have two boys. |
