George was born in the rural district of Wedza in 1976, the youngest of four boys and one girl.
Is in George’s own words:
“When I was 5 years old, I used to make animals from clay and toy cars from wire. I’m the one who taught others how to make them. At seven, I started my primary education at St Mary’s Mission in Wedza and transferred to St. Pius primary level but remained good at arts and crafts.
Due to family matters, I failed to go ahead with my education and was employed in various jobs like farm working.
In 2000 I came to Harare and trained as a welder but was still attracted to art so I joined Stone Arts workshop as an assistant and gained experience. I made my first piece four days after starting it and it was sold to a customer. From there, art became as easy as cutting margarine with a hot knife.”
George’s family all still live around Wedza - he is still unmarried.
