Charles Pasuwa

African Art Shona Sculpture - Charles PasuwaCharles was born in Chegutu into a family of three boys. He attended primary and secondary schooling in Chitungwiza, a high-density suburb of Harare.

In 1994 he became interested in art and was inspired by the late Chikuse Padzumwa along Lincon Muteta and later Shepherd Madzikatire - assisting them in their studios.

His early work concentrated on abstracts, flowers and sometimes figures. He sold his works at Chapungu Gallery, National Gallery and the Matombo gallery in Zimbabwe and many found their way throughout the world.

Charles urges the current generation of artists to work hard and not to copy others art forms but to create something which is unique so that they can be promoted.

In his spare time, he likes to listen to music, watch TV and watching football.
